To portray an high school going Indian girl in America. The effervescent waitress at her parents' Indian restaurant in Queens. Conscious of what her parents sacrificed to come to America, and their expectations that she become a doctor or engineer like they were back in India, Sunny keeps her "gift" and the dreams that go along with it to herself. She is smart, witty, an A-student, a lover of music, the head of her coding club at school, and She strives to be the perfect Indian daughter, but she's the epitome of a hyphen kid. In her eyes, she’s too American at home for her parents, and too Indian to the rest of the world. No one knows this, but Sunny can literally see music in everyday sounds; like a pigeon’s coo or a subway train. In her ear, they make up a DJ symphony that, with her coding skills, enables her to make the hottest tracks. Sunny is forced to bring her dream into the light when a sweet-talking boy steals one of her tracks. With the support of her grandmother and confidante, who was once a legendary Bollywood star, her two best male coding pals, and the school's social media queen, Sunny creates a secret DJ persona to help take on the thief at a big DJ battle. However, Sunny has to ask herself just how authentic a DJ she is if she isn't openly claiming her music, and putting everything that makes her who she is into it.
